Call out for fire departments to send in their surplus Class A Dress Uniforms.

Fire departments continuing to donate their surplus Class A Dress Uniforms is the key to the long term success of the Bereavement Uniform Program (BUP).

The BUP is at its moment of reckoning.  If fire departments step up, a new level of social consciousness will begin to take root and the International Association of Fire Chiefs slogan ‘taking care of our own’ will have a lot more meaning.

The Fire Service is beginning to take ownership of the Bereavement Uniform Program.

Fourteen states have associations that have committed to leading the call for participation from the departments in their states with surplus and unused Class A Dress Uniform to contribute them to the Bereavement Uniform Program.

While it has been a slow, laborious process the fire service is finally picking up the ball and the possibility of every ‘passing’ firefighter be buried in a Class A Dress Uniform is becoming a reality.

Fire Dept. Class A Dress Uniforms are not a commodity item and can’t be treated as such. Doing so is a recipe for disaster.

Class A Dress Uniforms are probably the most complicated piece of a fire department’s uniform complement and most successful department dress uniform programs are managed by their supplier.  That is way it is critical to pick the right supplier.
